A new theatrical adaptation based on the award-winning Classical Kids compact disc Beethoven Lives Upstairs! The story of a young boy who develops a reluctant friendship with a peculiar piano-pounding madman by the name of Ludwig van Beethoven.

The arrival of an eccentric boarder turns a young boy’s life upside down. Ludwig van Beethoven has moved in upstairs! At first Christoph resents their new tenant but slowly he comes to understand the genius of the man, the torment of his deafness and the beauty of his music. A beautiful and mesmerizing story for all ages, Beethoven Lives Upstairs also introduces its audience to some of the composer’s most memorable works. Geordie is thrilled to bring back its beautiful adaptation of this great classic story.

Touring History

Beethoven Lives Upstairs was originally presented to rave reviews during Geordie’s 2010 – 11 Season. In April 2016, to cap off its 35th anniversary season and to celebrate Dean Patrick Fleming’s contribution to the company with his last offering as Artistic Director, Geordie then brought back its theatrical adaptation of the award-winning Classical Kids’ story of the same title.

Beethoven Lives Upstairs is a large-scale production looking to tour into theatres and presenting houses nationally and internationally.
