Volunteer

Geordie regularly relies on the help of volunteers to support its many activities. At the theatre, in our office or in your own neighbourhood, there are all sorts of opportunities for you and/or your family to get involved!

Examples of areas where volunteers can help include (click on title for more detail):

Opening Night Volunteer

-Decorate the lobby on Opening Night by blowing up balloons, putting up posters and creating a festive atmosphere. Time commitment: Friday (Opening Night) from 3:30 – 6pm

Front of House Volunteer

* A. School Matinee Volunteer – Meet the teachers from the school buses and direct them to the welcome desk. Provide information about the location of washrooms, water-fountains etc Time commitment: weekday mornings from 9:30 am – 12:15 pm (during a Mainstage Production run)

* B. Family Matinee Volunteer – Welcome our family patrons and direct them to the Box Office; fold, stuff and distribute programmes; field questions about the show or about Geordie; promote Geordie’s merchandise and help tidy up after the show. Time commitment: weekend afternoons from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm (during a Mainstage production run)

School Liaison Assistant

– Assist the school liaison by calling schools to remind them of our upcoming shows, conducting surveys of teachers’ opinions and promoting the Geordie tour. Time commitment: 2-5 hours per month

Fundraising

– As a non-profit organization, fundraising is an integral part of what we do. Help us out with our annual fundraising campaign, source potential funding, monitor grant announcements and solicit donations by phone and via e-mail. Time commitment: 2-5 hours per month

Office Assistant

– Provide administrative assistance to the Geordie Staff: mailings, filing, faxing, photocopying, etc. Time commitment: as needed during regular business hours (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm)

Publicity Team

– Distribute posters and flyers to specific neighbourhoods, community organizations, etc. at your convenience. Time commitment: as needed (before a show)

Volunteer Coordinator

– Help recruit and train volunteers, keep volunteer manuals up-to-date, review applications and place volunteers as needed. Time commitment: 5-6 hours per month

Translator

– English to French translation of promotional materials, web content, fundraising pamphlets and/or letters for distribution. Time commitment: as needed

Other

– Let us know what you can do! Our organization is always changing and growing and we would love to use your talents! Time commitment: as needed
