Welcome to our 39th Season! We are honoured to share this year with the historic 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child; a treaty that recognizes the importance of young people being given a world that allows them to think freely, be safe, imagine, and achieve endless possibility. After a ground-breaking year, I am thrilled to welcome you to a season that dives deep into and celebrates the unique stories of children and teens that are close to us and those that urge us to learn more.
Along with the exciting community events in store and new plays in development, as well as our continued impact from our lauded Geordie Theatre School and the return of the Geordie Theatre Fest, we cannot wait to share four new productions that will invite you to dive deep and soar high featuring some of our most cherished artistic voices. Join us as we journey to the not-so-distant future where a troupe of young people go on a quest to save water and the planet they love in The Water Chronicles. Discover the beautiful and urgent story of three teens learning to find their voice with FOMO. Fly high with Persephone Bound, our first collaboration with Montreal’s award-winning Imago Theatre and Screaming Goats Collective, featuring an astounding aerial performance. And uncover the magic in a little girl’s exceptional mind in Virginia Wolf.
From all of us at Geordie, we thank you for inviting us into your worlds and sharing with us the undeniable power of the arts and the immeasurable abilities of young people near and far. I look forward to seeing you at the theatre and, together, enjoying a season that promises to journey Inside, Out, and All Around.
