Deena Aziz

Deena Aziz

Deena has worked across Canada and internationally as an actor, producer, and story editor for theatre and film. Stage credits include: Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass (Geordie Productions), The Veil (One Light Theatre / Fajr Festival Tehran), Anosh Irani’s award-winning Bombay Black (Cahoots Theatre Projects / Vancouver Arts Club), and the Canadian premieres of Tony Kushner’s Homebody/Kabul (Dora nomination, Outstanding Performance; Mercury Theatre), and Rice Boy (CanStage; Stratford Festival). TV/film appearances include the NBC/Muse pilot THE JENSEN PROJECT, Mary Harron’s THE MOTH DIARIES, and a recurring role on the short-lived CBC “daytime drama” NORTH/SOUTH.

On the other side of the table/camera, Deena has worked in varying capacities with such companies as the Centaur Theatre, the National Arts Centre, BBR Productions, the National Film Board, Aetios Productions, and Playwrights’ Workshop Montreal … in which contexts she has found herself at various times: costume fitting an elephant; quizzing the FBI about the Kennedy assassination; learning more than strictly necessary about urology; and instructing Chinese costumers on the finer points of Victorian corsetry.
