ONLINE CLASSES, PUBLIC PLAY DATES, AND WEEKLY CHALLENGES AMONG ACTIVITIES HOSTED BY GEORDIE
Geordie Theatre School has launched GTS Online – a new initiative on behalf of Geordie Theatre to offer a wide range of online activities and services for kids and their families during the COVID crisis. Aiming to make theatre education during theses times a bit easier and more creative, students enrolled in the Winter 2020 Session can now join online classes and end the session on a more playful note.
GTS Online is also offering Public Play Dates which will consist of 60 minutes of interactive theatre led by GTS teachers, including those from the professional theatre milieu. Play dates will be offered for ages 6 to 9 and 10 to 12. Participants must sign up in advance in order to reserve a spot and get the invitation link.
As part of its Weekly GTS Challenges, every Friday Geordie will post a video challenge to its social media pages and challenge kids and their families to create a video of their own.
With Kids Reviews, every two weeks Geordie will post a video review by one of its GTS kids.
Geordie Artistic Director Mike Payette will also be connecting with the GTS family and the community in one-time Live Feed segment of Ask Mike on Thursday, April 23rd at 3:00pm.

Geordie Theatre provokes thought, fires up the imagination, and seeks to encourage and challenge our audience. We celebrate the art of theatre and its social and global impact by working with emerging and established professional artists from various disciplines and cultural backgrounds to create works that are provocative, relevant and enchanting; inspiring dialogue between communities, children and parents as well as teachers and students of all ages. We look to build relationships with and extend our audience through inclusive practices and by visiting far-reaching communities in Quebec and abroad. Since 1980, Geordie has been producing and presenting plays that are important to young people; stories that are uniquely related to them in a context that reflects the world around them and their personal experiences at home. They are always about fostering the voice of young people and giving them a vessel in which they are represented, listened to, and encouraged while inspiring dialogue with the adults in their lives about what they see and recognize. Season 2020/21 will mark Geordie’s 40th anniversary with this unique mission!
