MONTREALNovember 5th, 2020 – In commemoration of its milestone anniversary this season, Geordie Theatre is offering on the 21st of November a special 4-hour event, honouring 40 years of celebrating young people, their stories, and their communities. Hosted by Artistic Director Mike Payette, this event will be streamed live from the new Espace Geordie, located in the historic Little Italy.

The event will showcase many forms of storytelling such as dance, music, poetry and song. It will feature a wide variety of local talent, messages from members of the Geordie Family and our stellar supporters, as well as interviews with exceptional guests, including Geordie founder, Canadian theatre veteran, and Order of Canada laureate Elsa Bolam.

Members of the extended Geordie family such as former Supreme Court Justice Pepita Capriolo as well as president and chairman of the Cole Foundation Barry Cole, will also be preparing a special message for this event.

Student and teenage music phenom, Thomas Backman will be entertaining all afternoon as the House DJ; accompanied by captivating performances by familiar faces, including headliner and esteemed community leader Jonathan Emile.  Aa multi-faceted performer and record producer, Jonathan has worked with artists such as Kendrick Lamar and whose music embraces the stylings of whose work is specialized but not limited to hip-hop, reggae and R&B. Family favourite The Amazing Todsky will be revealing some of his best magic tricks, while Nina Segalowitz will inspire you with her astounding throat signing.

The lineup will also include artists that are close to Geordie’s heart, including Board Member Matt Goldberg (Confabulation) who will move with his captivating storytelling, artist and staff member Violette Kay playing the violin, and award-winning Anton May (Geordie 2Play Tour) will move us with song, and much more!

Kicking things off will be an online auction, starting on November 14th, jam-packed with over 40 items including fashion apparel, jewellery, gift certificates and more.
