About Geordie

Our Mission

Geordie works with exceptional emerging and established professional artists from various disciplines and cultural backgrounds to create programming that is relevant and enchanting; inspiring dialogue between communities, children and parents, as well as teachers and students of all ages. Committed to developing beautiful and important works featuring the wealth of diverse voices in Quebec, Geordie continues to build relationships with audiences and extends its reach through engaging in inclusive outreach initiatives as well as through local and national touring.

Our Values

Geordie values the diversity of its patrons, visitors and workforce, and is committed to making theatre that is inclusive and accessible to all members of society.

Our History:

Geordie is Montreal’s leading English-language professional theatre for audiences of all ages, entertaining and engaging the imaginations since 1980!

Our Core Programs and Services:

Geordie has three pillars: creation and development of shows; production and touring; education and outreach. Geordie tours schools across the province with the 2PlayTour and runs a popular theatre school (GTS) that includes public classes, camps and workshops. They recently launched Workplace Workshops that help build essential soft skills for adults, including teamwork, communication, critical thinking, innovation, and emotional intelligence.

Our Key Achievements

To date, Geordie has performed for over 2.7 million youth and welcomed more than 22,000 youth to our theatre school classes and workshops. We have been nominated for 76 Montreal English Theatre Awards (METAs) and won 18, in addition to a Dora Award for best production.. We recently launched our Indigenous Artistic Growth Program, which has centred Indigenous voices in the storytelling of our programming.
