Did you know the provincial government offers resources to finance cultural outings for school groups? These resources can help your school come see Geordie Theatre’s Mainstage productions at a fraction of the typical cost. To pursue these bursaries, we suggest you contact the coordinator of cultural activities at your school or the school board to assist you in applying.

Culture in the Schools Program

Ministry of Education (MEES), measure 15186
With a budget of $9.2 m, this measure provides financial support exclusively for cultural outings. The bursary offers an amount of funds for each student; it can cover fees for admission and transportation to Geordie’s performances.

– Confirm your booking with Geordie

École Inspirante

Ministry of Education (MEES), measure 15230

ArtistsInspire Grants

English Language Arts Network (ELAN), funded by the Government of Canada
Each English public school may receive $1500 annually from 2019 to 2023 (plus travel costs for rural/remote schools) to partner up with qualified artists from Quebec’s English-speaking communities to engage their students in a multiple-session cultural activity at their school.

Total Funding: $1500
Geordie Experience: ONE tour performance and
four classroom groups receive TWO workshops with
a Geordie Theatre School teaching artist
Eligibility: Quebec English Schools
– Each school can only have one engagement with
ArtistsInspire per school year
How to apply
– Confirm a 2Play tour date with Geordie
(mandatory for the ArtistsInspire Application)
– Create a profile on the ELAN ArtistsInspire website:
– Workshop dates can be determined following the
application approval. Approval is notified via email

Daytrippers

Daytrippers is a registered charity based out of Toronto, 100% volunteer led, that provides reimbursement funding for field trips for low income or remote schools.

Total Funding: Full cost of Geordie experience
covered*
Eligibility: All Schools (Quebec, Ontario, and
Maritimes, all languages of instruction)
Geordie Experience: 2Play tour, in-school
workshops, and field trips to theatre performances
How to apply
– Confirm booking with Geordie
– Create a profile on Daytrippers if you don’t already
have one
– Geordie will provide supporting materials
(contract, invoice) for the application
Other Requirements
– *School is expected to pay in full and will receive
reimbursement
